Bill Hill and World Beat
William Hill has been the Principal Timpanist with the Colorado Symphony for 33 years, and has taught composition at the University of Denver for 15 years. He has won numerous national and international awards as a composer and performer and performs about 180 classical, jazz, fusion, Latin and ethnic concerts every year. Bill has performed his original compositions throughout the United States and Europe, and has recorded with American and European musicians and orchestras. Vocalist and violinist Nadya Hill graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011 with degrees in violin and vocal performance, both with highest honors. Nadya has been performing publicly since she was four years old, and has performed in numerous venues in the United States including Carnegie Hall and in many European countries from symphony halls to pubs and street concerts. Nadya was chosen one of the top prize winners in the 2013 Denver Lyric Opera Competition.
Colin Hill attends the University of Colorado as a Jazz and Electronic Composition student. He has played percussion for 12 years and studied violin for 4 years. Colin was honored last year with the Louis Armstrong National Jazz Award, and was the featured soloist with the Bear Creek
High School Winter Percussion Group. He performed at the National Jazz Educators Convention in Atlanta in January 2013.
Cellist Evan Orman performs regularly with the Denver area’s most prestigious groups including the Colorado Symphony. He is internationally recognized as a maker of top quality string instrument bows, and is a highly regarded authority on all string instruments. Evan is also a founder and the featured bandoneon player in the highly acclaimed tango group Extasis. He studied at the North Carolina School for the Arts, the Banff Centre for the Arts, and the New England Conservatory.
